After more than 11 1/2 incredible years, the owners of Beer Hound Brewery have made the heartfelt decision to retire. Our last day open to the public will be Saturday, February 28, 2026.
For over a decade, Beer Hound has been a welcoming place for craft beer lovers, dog owners, and neighbors. It grew into something far more than a taproom. It became a gathering place built on shared experiences, meaningful connections, and a deep commitment to giving back to the community we love.
“Beer Hound was never just about the beer,” said Shirley, co-owner of Beer Hound Brewery. “It was about creating a place where people felt welcome, where dogs were part of the family, and where we could support the causes and communities we care so deeply about. We are incredibly grateful for everyone who walked through our doors and made this journey so meaningful.”
Beer Hound was twice named Most Dog Friendly Brewery by BringFido.com, a recognition that reflected our open-door approach to four-legged friends and our belief that everyone deserves to feel welcome.
Giving back has always been at the heart of what we do. Over the years, we hosted chili cook-offs to raise funds for local fire and rescue organizations and police charities, participated in the Culpeper Christmas parade, and supported countless nonprofit organizations, especially those aligned with animals, veterans, and first responders.
We were proud to create traditions that brought people together, including Santa Paws, featuring photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus for families and their pets. One of our most meaningful efforts was the creation of a Belgian-style beer named after Vader, a Belgian Malinois who lost his life in the line of duty. Proceeds from that beer helped fund nine K9 ballistic vests, supporting working dogs and the officers who serve alongside them.
None of this would have been possible without our incredible staff over the years. Their dedication, professionalism, and care for every guest helped shape the welcoming atmosphere that defined Beer Hound. We are equally grateful to our customers, whose continued support turned a brewery into a true community and made Beer Hound feel like home.
Saturday, February 28 will be both our final day open and our retirement celebration. It will be a chance to gather one last time, raise a glass, share memories, and celebrate everything we built together.
We’ll continue to share updates and details through our social media channels in the weeks leading up to our final day. We hope you’ll join us as we close this chapter with gratitude and love.
With heartfelt thanks,
Shirley, Ralph & Rick 🐾🍻
